GHK-Cu, SNAP-8, Glutathione and Epithalon: Four Molecules Behind Skin Research (and Where to Get All Four in Canada)

Skin research keeps coming back to four molecules, each working a different layer: structure, movement, tone and time. Here is what each one is studied for, what is known and what is not, and where to get all four in Canada.

  • GHK-Cu, SNAP-8, glutathione and epithalon are each studied at a different layer of skin and ageing research: the collagen matrix, the nerve–muscle signal behind expression lines, the melanin pathway, and telomeres.
  • No study has tested the four together. Researching Beauty? keeps them side by side as four separate freeze-dried vials: $174.99 CAD, a little less than the $184.96 they cost apart.
  • Ships tracked from Vancouver by Canada Post Xpresspost, no customs. Sold for laboratory research use only.

The quick answer

GHK-Cu, SNAP-8, glutathione and epithalon turn up in the same research conversations because each one is studied at a different layer of the same question: why skin changes over time. GHK-Cu is studied for structure (collagen and the matrix that holds skin up), SNAP-8 for movement (the nerve signal behind expression lines), glutathione for tone (the melanin pathway) and epithalon for time (telomeres in ageing cells). In Canada all four come together, as separate freeze-dried vials in one box, in Researching Beauty?: $174.99 CAD, shipped from Vancouver with no customs.

GHK-Cu: structure

GHK is glycyl-histidyl-lysine, a tiny peptide first isolated from human plasma in 1973 by Loren Pickart. It grabs copper so tightly that the two travel together, which is why a GHK-Cu solution is blue. In 1988 a French team showed that GHK-Cu raised collagen synthesis in fibroblast cultures80509-x) at very low concentrations, without changing the number of cells. The same sequence sits inside the collagen molecule itself, which is why it is studied as a signal released when the matrix is broken down and rebuilt. More in our GHK-Cu research guide.

SNAP-8: movement

SNAP-8 comes from cosmetic science, not medicine. It is the longer relative of Argireline: the same six amino acids plus two more. Both copy the end of SNAP-25, one of the proteins that make up the SNARE complex, the machinery a nerve ending uses to release its signal to a muscle. The Argireline design paper showed the shorter peptide interfering with how that complex forms. That is the expression-line theory in one sentence: fewer signals, less contraction. SNAP-8 is studied as the longer version of that idea. More in our SNAP-8 guide.

Glutathione: tone

Glutathione is the most abundant small antioxidant inside cells, and it is the one skin researchers study in the pigment pathway. A 2005 review pulled together the proposed mechanisms: it can inactivate tyrosinase, the copper-containing enzyme that starts melanin production; it shifts production from dark eumelanin towards lighter phaeomelanin; and it mops up the free radicals that switch tyrosinase on. Copper turns up twice in this box: GHK carries it, and tyrosinase runs on it.

Epithalon: time

Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon) is a four-amino-acid peptide developed in St Petersburg by Vladimir Khavinson, modelled on an extract of the pineal gland. Its best-known result is a 2003 cell-culture study reporting telomerase activity and telomere elongation in human fibroblasts. Telomeres are the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes that shorten as cells divide, so epithalon belongs to the deepest layer of the question: cellular ageing itself.

Why study them together

Because they ask the same question from four different directions. Skin changes in its structure, in how it moves, in its colour and in the age of its cells, and each of these four molecules is a research handle on one of those. No study has tested all four together. That is the open question, and the reason to keep them on one bench.

An honest note: GHK-Cu and epithalon were both named in Health Canada’s April 2026 advisory about peptides sold online (what it said). We sell all four as laboratory research materials only, never for use in people.

What it costs in Canada

Apart, the four vials come to $184.96 CAD ($59.99 + $34.99 + $54.99 + $34.99). Researching Beauty? is $174.99: $9.97 less, one box, one shipment. A small difference, on purpose; the reason to keep them together was never the discount. Two more ways to save:

  • —Order two boxes and the 10% multi-buy price applies to both, which also takes the order past $300 for free shipping.
  • —Pay by Interac e-Transfer and another 10% comes off at checkout.

Research Rewards members can take it free with 2 medals. Membership is free at popularpeptides.ca/members.

All four ship as freeze-dried powders, so they are reconstituted before use; bacteriostatic water is sold separately. Everything ships tracked from Vancouver by Canada Post Xpresspost, usually in 1 to 4 business days, with no customs step and no brokerage fee.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy GHK-Cu, SNAP-8, glutathione and epithalon together in Canada?

Yes. Researching Beauty? is all four as separate vials in one box, $174.99 CAD, shipped from Vancouver with no customs.

Is SNAP-8 the same as Argireline?

No, but they are close relatives. Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8) has six amino acids; SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) has the same six plus two more. Both are studied for the same SNARE mechanism.

Is Researching Beauty? the same as GLOW?

No. GLOW is one vial with three peptides mixed together (GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and TB-500). Researching Beauty? is four single-compound vials. GHK-Cu is the only compound they share.

How much do you save with all four together?

$9.97 against buying the four vials separately ($184.96). Ordering two boxes adds the 10% multi-buy price and free shipping.

Do they need bacteriostatic water?

Yes. All four arrive as freeze-dried powders and are reconstituted in the lab before use.
