GHK-Cu Copper Peptide: Hype vs. What the Studies Say

GHK-Cu is a tripeptide (glycine, histidine, lysine) bound to one copper atom; the blue colour shows the copper is still attached. Loren Pickart first described GHK in human plasma in 1973, and plasma levels fall with age. Most of the research is on skin: collagen production by cells in a dish and wound-healing studies in animals. In skincare it is listed as “copper tripeptide-1” at cosmetic strength, which is not the same thing as a research vial. The hair study people quote tested a related molecule, AHK-Cu, on hair follicles in a dish; it is not evidence that GHK-Cu regrows hair.

[0:09]Okay, real talk. GHK-Cu is a copper peptide: three tiny amino acids attached to one copper atom. That’s the whole molecule. And it’s blue. In the lab, blue means the copper’s still attached.
[0:23]It was first found in human blood in 1973 by a researcher named Loren Pickart. And here’s the part everyone loves: your levels drop as you get older. Which, honestly, explains a lot about my forehead.
[0:36]Most of the research is on skin: cells in a dish making more collagen, plus wound-healing studies in animals. That’s where the real science lives.
[0:46]Fun fact: you might already own some. On skincare labels, it goes by “copper tripeptide-1.” That’s a cosmetic ingredient at cosmetic strength. A research vial is a different thing.
[0:58]Now, hair. The study everyone quotes used a cousin molecule, AHK-Cu, on hair follicles in a dish, not on a head. And definitely not on this head.
[1:12]Online, GHK-Cu is glass skin, a full hairline, and eternal youth in a dropper. That’s not what the studies say. That’s what the ads say.
