How to Read a IGF-1 Certificate of Analysis (COA)

A Certificate of Analysis is only useful if you know which number on it matters for the compound in front of you. For IGF-1, the informative checks are not the same as for a generic short peptide.

70-residue single-chain protein (native IGF-1), three disulfide bondsHormonal & EndocrineMusculoskeletal

Overview

The most meaningful figure is a function or identity test, not just purity percent — because purity cannot tell you whether the shape survived. Weight should be near 7649.

What IGF-1 actually is

The natural growth factor the body produces after growth hormone acts — a folded protein, not a simple peptide, studied for muscle and tissue signalling. This is the native form, different from the longer-acting LR3 version.

Supplied for laboratory research use only — not for human or animal use.

Research-grade IGF-1

Third-party tested by HPLC and LC-MS, ≥99% purity, with a Certificate of Analysis on every order. Ships across Canada.

Technical detail below

Assays that are informative for IGF-1

Method 1RP-HPLC purity (UV 214 nm)
Method 2LC-MS identity / molecular-ion confirmation
Method 3Bioidentity / bioactivity assay where available
Method 4Appearance and reconstitution clarity

What to check on the COA

Confirm the mass near 7649 Da, but treat a folding/bioidentity result as the figure that actually matters — a high purity percentage does not establish correct folding.

Characteristic impurity profile

Reduced or misfolded forms and aggregates; these can co-elute close to the correctly folded protein.

Verify a Popular Peptides batch

Every batch is third-party tested by HPLC and LC-MS with a published Certificate of Analysis (≥99% purity). Enter a lot number to pull the COA for the exact vial in front of you.

What IGF-1 is studied for

IGF-1 receptor signalling

Studied as the native ligand for the IGF-1 receptor and its downstream proliferation and survival pathways.

Satellite cell activation

Examined in muscle research models for its role in satellite-cell behaviour and anabolic signalling.

Native versus analogue

Compared with IGF-1 LR3, whose reduced binding-protein affinity gives a longer active window — a contrast studied directly in the literature.

Summarizes published preclinical literature. Provided for research reference only; not a claim of efficacy or a description of human use.
