Recombinant 83-residue protein analogue of IGF-1
IGF-1 LR3 is an engineered analogue carrying two changes to native IGF-1: an arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-residue N-terminal extension. The Arg3 substitution is the functional one — it drastically reduces binding to IGF binding proteins, which normally sequester the great majority of circulating IGF-1. The result is a molecule that stays free rather than bound.
Solubility & reconstitution
This is the one compound in this catalogue that genuinely requires an acidic solvent. IGF-1 LR3 is a folded 83-residue protein with poor solubility at neutral pH and is conventionally dissolved first in dilute acetic acid or dilute HCl, then diluted into the working buffer. Attempting to dissolve it directly in plain water or PBS commonly produces incomplete dissolution or visible precipitate — this is expected chemistry, not a defective vial.
Typically prepared as a concentrated acidic stock, then diluted; avoid dilute storage.
Storage
Sealed at -20 °C or below. As a folded protein rather than a short peptide, it has less thermal margin than most of this catalogue. Refrigerate at 2–8 °C for short-term work. Where longer storage is required, carrier protein such as 0.1% BSA is conventionally added to prevent adsorptive loss — a step that is standard for growth-factor proteins and unnecessary for short peptides.
